What does "channeling" really mean anyway? Is it like being a sort of funnel for cosmic information to flow through you?
At East West, we have the honor of meeting and working closely with many souls who have abilities to tune into realities that cannot be easily understood with the logical mind. Yet, if you look more closely, you will see that these abilities are not as rare or mystical among us Muggle folk as one may think.
Say we were to step into a time machine and be transported back 1,000 years. If we attempted to communicate that in the future, we would be able to breathe underwater with air containers, people would live on average to 80+ years through the advance of medicine, and would have devices that can communicate with anyone in the world at a moment’s notice, they would have thought us to be crazy! Just because intuition isn’t widely understood in society, it doesn’t mean that we do not all have this ability. And not only do we have this ability, but it can also be refined and increased.
Do you recall a moment in your life where the right insight or feeling about a particular situation was just effortlessly there? Where did it come from? Where many people slip up when this happens is that they let their analytical mind take charge and rationalize this inner knowing. Or the ego will try to stake its claim and declare its own importance. These insights, or intuitions, are a direct perception of truth from your soul.
So then, what is the difference between channeling and intuition? It really depends on what angle you are looking at it from. Some will channel information from, say, the Akashic Records, Ascended Masters, or their soul guides. All are valid, though you can say this type of channeling is a niche way of connecting with sources in a way that is outside of one’s own soul’s perception. Your soul is connected with the universal source of knowledge from the past, present, and future. When your mind is calm, and you listen sensitively, you can receive answers or directions to even the most complex situations.
Okay, let’s say you wake up one morning with an intuitive knowing about something. What then? Keep in mind, just because you perceive something does not make it infallible. You may be only seeing a part of the picture. You may have even missed the boat altogether, and it is only your ego telling you something is true.
The key at this point is to tread lightly. Do not declare it to the world. Take a step forward and always listen if it continues to feel right. It is vital to remain flexible and know that our intuition may be telling us to go straight one moment, but shortly after, it may tell us to go left.
I encourage all of you to practice on small things and see how it feels. Over time, you will begin to recognize that inner voice guiding you in all aspects of your life.
